Last year, TGC launched its first outdoor festival, TGC FES, as a new form of the TGC Regional Revitalization Project, which was launched in 2015, based on the philosophy of regional revitalization unique to TGC that not only disseminates the charms and industries of the region nationwide by utilizing TGC’s platform, but also provides opportunities to experience the “cutting-edge of Tokyo.” As the first step, “TGC FES YAMANASHI 2022” held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, recorded a
total of about 550,750 people and an economic ripple effect of 961 million yen
. We were able to create opportunities for many people to come into contact with the Yamanashi brand.

TGC Fes Yamanashi 2023, which has been decided to be held this time, will be

to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through the Yamanashi Prefectural Forest Offset Credit (J-VER) It will be held as. This is the first time that a TGC has adopted carbon offsetting. The proceeds from the purchase of J-VER through this initiative will be used for sustainable forest management that takes into account the preservation of Yamanashi Prefecture’s rich natural environment and the preservation of biodiversity. Naomi Trauden, who took the stage at the press conference, said that she herself is actively working on environmental issues, saying, “This is a wonderful initiative. The global trend of decarbonization is now the same, so it is important for Japan to try to catch up and do its best. I’m really happy that there aren’t many such initiatives at entertainment events like TGC. TGC has been working on SDGs and social issues since its early stages. There are many people who understand environmental problems but do not know what to do. This time, just by participating in TGC, you will be involved in decarbonization efforts, so I am looking forward to it.” He said. He continued, “TGC is a place where you can learn not only about trends, but also about SDGs and information about the world, and I myself am able to catch various information while participating. Also, the venue in Yamanashi is mortar-shaped, so it is closer to the audience than other venues. First of all, I want to enjoy it to the fullest!” He talked about the appeal of TGC and his enthusiasm for the event.

Carbon offsetting is the concept of making efforts to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases such as CO2, which are unavoidable in daily life and economic activities, and then making up for the greenhouse gases emitted by investing in greenhouse gas reduction activities commensurate with the emissions.

Yamanashi Prefecture has many “treasures” such as “rich nature” such as Mt. Fuji and the Minami Alps, “fruits” such as peaches and grapes that produce the largest Japan, “beautiful sake” such as wine and Japan sake, and “textiles” and “jewelry” made by craftsmen. Combining this treasure with the planning and information dissemination capabilities of the Tokyo Girls Collection, TGC FES YAMANASHI 2022 held on October 22 last year was very well received, especially among young women. With the motif of the pattern of “Kai silk” dating back to the Edo period, summer clothes made from linen fabric of a textile company in the prefecture are very cool. TGC FES started in Yamanashi. The theme of TGC Fes Yamanashi 2023 is “Treasure Box -crossover-“.

Yamanashi Prefecture is like a treasure chest where abundant attractions such as Mt. Fuji and other rich nature and industries such as fruits, wine, jewelry, and textiles intersect. We will disseminate the Yamanashi brand to the world with the aim of “evolving”, “refinement”, “derivation”, “expansion”, “modernization”, “arrangement”, and “sustainability” when the essence of high-quality Yamanashi meets modern “trends”, and sublimating by bringing people together in this place and crossing over.

What is the Tokyo Girls Collection?

It has been held twice a year since August 2005 under the theme of “Bringing Japan Girl Culture to the World.” One of the largest fashion festivals in history, boasting a recognition rate of 94% that brings together top influencers such as models, talents, artists, and video creators. The total number of people experiencing the experience through real life and online has exceeded about 8 million, and by combining TGC with a wide variety of partners, it has developed into a branding platform that goes beyond the framework of a fashion show and performs a “laboratory” function for content development and branding. What is TGC FES?
