The vessel exhibition and sales event “Halle no Utswa” will be held from December 1, 2021 (Wednesday) to January 10, 2022 (Monday) at “Suzuhiro Kamaboko-no-Sato” operated by Suzuhiro Kamaboko Main Store Co., Ltd. (President: Hiroaki Suzuki, Hereinafter referred to as “Suzuhiro”).

Odawara and Hakone, where we live, are one of the most diverse trees in Japan. For this reason, woodworkers have been creating natural beauty since ancient times and manufacturing wooden products that are close to the lives of that era.
In this event, we will visit seven workshops in odawara and Hakone area and select vessels that enrich new year’s life and one-point items that color the New Year.

  • Kiji – Koichi Tsuyuki’s Hakone Parquet –

We have created modern patterns in the world of Hakone parquet and make many works that are easy to use in modern life. Harmony and contrast of colors that combine precious wood with sophisticated techniques. The warmth of wood makes your lifestyle gentle.

  • Ishikawa Lacquerware – Mitsuru Ishikawa’s Odawara Lacquerware –

A workshop that has been in business since the Edo period. The lacquered bowls made by Mitsuru Ishikawa are matte and modern at the beginning of use, but the more you use them, the more you use them, the more they change into glossy and quaint deep colors.

  • 3. Hakone Parquet by Hamamatsuya – Ichiro Ishikawa

His ancestors are Ishikawa Nibei, who is said to be the founder of Hakone Yosegi zaiku, and make beautiful patterns by combining the wood color and grain of natural wood. It is a bowl that looks dignified and fashionable for Osechi cuisine and cheese and sweets of everyday life.

  • Sonobe Sangyo – Depression that blends into daily life –

It is “Depression that I want to use every day”. The beauty of the wood grain and the shape in the palm of the hand are carefully shaved out one by one by skilled craftsmen. It is easy to clean, and the design that fits both Japanese and Western is active in the daily dining table.

  • Okawa Woodworking Plant – Hajime Okawa’s Odawara Lacquerware

Odawara lacquerware is traditionally made from Odawara zealwood and lacquered to take advantage of the beauty of the grain. The more you use it, the more the color changes, and the more glossy lacquerware becomes. It is a vessel that blends into the life of life.

  • Kinashi WoodCraft – Katsuyoshi Kanashi’s Hakone Parquet –

After combining different trees such as zelklk, walnuts, and cherry blossoms, the shape is cut out using a potter’s box. This is a unique manufacturing method devised by Mr. Kanasashi, and depending on how it is shaved, there is a difference in the pattern that appears on the surface of the vessel.

  • La Ruth – A Bowl of Cypress In Odawara –

It is a workshop that advocates “goodness of wood, comfort” The cypress bowls in the “Hikiyose” series are as light and smooth as the air that the tree breathes. We use thinned wood from the center of Odawara, and we also have a strong will to leave Morisatoumi to the next generation.
