Mika Ninagawa decorates the courtyard of Asuka-no-Yu, Dogo Onsen Annex

About 230 photographs of the flowers of photographer and film director Mika Ninagawa have been installed. This is Ninagawa’s first large-scale installation with photographs on the outdoor floor.

Yuji Sumikawa, a technical illustrator living in Matsuyama City, works on the theme of historical picture scrolls of Dogo Onsen
“Dogo Onsen Goki Dango” is released. Illustrations that make use of the technique of trick painting

 Mitsuko Ono, a multimedia designer, springs up with the face of “people”
Two types of content featuring characters with the motif of “bubbles” of hot springs are released. You can enjoy AR works inspired by the heat overflowing from the main building.

(4) Shinro Otake’s work appeared on the bare roof of the Dogo Onsen main building
The bare roof of the Dogo Onsen Main Building, which had been decorated with wrapping art of Osamu Tezuka ‘Firebird’, has been changed to a work by Noburo Otake, and a new symbol of Dogo Onsen appears.

(4) Exhibition period From Friday, December 17, 2021 to December 2024 (planned)

(5) Illumination work “Hikari no Hikari no Hikari”
This participatory art project started with the idea of “smile to people” in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. Participants pack LED bulbs in fruit bags with illustrations of “smiles”, and a colorful smile colors the night in Dogo Park.

(5) Exhibition period From December 17, 2021 (Friday) to January 16, 2022 (Sunday)

What is minna no Dogo Onsen Revitalization Project?

A plan to revitalize Dogo Onsen that incorporates “art” into local resources called “hot springs”. While expanding the economic cycle in the region, we will increase the population involved in the dogo, develop human resources, and carry out sustainable community development activities in the Dogo area.

I want to warm Dogo Onsen, Japan, and the world with the heat of “Art × people × hot springs”!

Focusing on the fact that people play a leading role in urban development, the motif is the face of people and the bubbles of hot springs. The character changes to various shapes in the scene used, coloring the town after the road.

・ “#道後 Time Tour” Instagram Photo Campaign

“Dogo Enguri” proposes five town walks with the theme of “time”, such as different quaint times, the changing seasons, and the climate that has been passed down through time. In fact, if you go around the course of “Dogo Kinguri” and post “Tokikita Photo” on Instagram, you will receive a present that allows you to enjoy Dogo Onsen to contributors who have won many “likes” and those who have pressed “Like” on the post.

Artist Introduction

Shinro Otake Shinro Otake

Born in Tokyo in 1955.
Since the early 1980s, he has been presenting his work both in Japan and overseas.
In 1988, he moved his production base to Uwajima City, Ehime Prefecture, focusing on paintings, sound and photography,
He develops a variety of works such as three-dimensional works incorporating images, essays, and picture books.
In 2014, the Arts Scholarship For Arts, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) was awarded through the achievements of four exhibitions held in Japan and overseas.
Received the Minister’s Award.
Participated in the Triennale in Hawaii in February 2022 at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo
A solo exhibition will be held.

Mika Ninagawa Mika Niniwa

Photographer, film director. He has received the Kimura Ihei Photography Award and many other awards.
He directed films “Sakuran” (2007), Helter Skelter (2012), Diner Diner (2019) and Human Disqualified Osamu Dazai and the Three Women (2019). Netflix’s original drama FOLLOWS is available in 190 countries around the world.
He also works on many video works.

 

Yuji Sumikawa

Up to you presided over, image builder.
A technical illustrator living in Matsuyama City who creates two-dimensional images. Many works have been left in Matsuyama and Dogo, such as “Shin Dogo Onsen Ezu” which depicts the surroundings of Dogo, created at “Dogo Onsen 2014”, and “Modern Version Dogo Onsen Ezu” exhibited in the large hall on the 2nd floor of Asuka-no-Yusen.
