From Saturday, February 5, 2022 to Sunday, February 20, 2022, “Hirata Gen Collection” exhibition will be held at “WELL” (Well, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo), a select shop for furniture and daily necessities.

At WELL, hirata chair manufacturing co., ltd. (Morotomi-cho, Saga-shi, Saga-shi, Saga, Representative Director: Shoji Hirata) has been working in various forms from the beginning while operating the brand with the desire to provide furniture that suits urban residents who will live in the future era. In the following, we sympathized with the brand concept of the new lineup “Hirata Gen Collection” announced by Hirata Chair Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and introduced it in the showroom.

Hirata Gen Collection, released in February 2020, is a furniture brand jointly launched by Hirata Chair Manufacturing Co., Ltd., a furniture and woodworking manufacturer in Kyushu founded in 1963, and studioA27, a design firm based in Denmark and Japan.

In 2019, architect Lars Vejen and designer Taijiro Ishikawa are design firms based in Denmark and Japan, where studioA27 is engaged in architectural renovations, furniture and merchandise product development and collaboration projects.

Fundamental value from the fusion of Denmark and Japan

Based on the concept of “high-quality and sustainable furniture” carefully made by Japanese craftsmen one by one, it is simple, beautiful, functional, and earth-friendly furniture that fuses Danish and Japanese designs.
 
There are 18 different collections of tables, chairs, sofas, stools, etc., and the materials are carefully selected for environmentally friendly, water-based, solid ash, cotton canvas fabrics, Kvadra’s uncolored wool, and natural tanned leather that does not use chemicals such as Sorensen leather.
The seats for chairs and sofas can be customized.

The brand name “Gen” means “gene” in Danish and “origin” in Japanese, and the thoughts of Hirata Chair Seisakusho and studioA27, which aim for a simple, simple and comfortable life underlying Danish and Japanese culture by reconsidering what the fundamental value that “furniture” can provide is.

The brightly colored and warm furnishings are designed to be used in commercial facilities and houses such as hotels, restaurants, and offices.

A woodworking furniture manufacturer in Kyushu that produces sofas and tables, mainly chairs. Founded in Okawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture in 1963, the factory was relocated to Moromi-cho, Saga-shi, Saga Prefecture in 1992.   • Mr. Taijiro Ishikawa

Graduated from Kyoto Institute of Technology Graduate School of Technology with a major in design. After working at interior and product design firm Design Studio Lars Vejen (Denmark), he became independent as Taijiro Ishiko Design based in Kyoto in 2017.
Received the “Young Japanese Design Talent Award” at the El Deco International Design Award 2022.
